  5. Thanks to Czech Amiga News, we can bring you this run down on the happenings at the Amiga2k show in the USA:

  7. Newtek has placed its source code for the Toaster and Flyer into
  8. Open Source status. See www.toaster.amiga.org for details.

  10. Greenboy of the Phoenix Group joined Amiga's Gary Peake on stage to
  11. shake hands and announce that there was no split in the Amiga
  12. community. Phoenix and Amiga are working together.

  14. Sun is a strategic partner of Amiga. Bill McEwen: "Our success will
  15. be the embrase of Java." Expect to see many Java apps for Amiga.

  17. Red Hat is another strategic partner. So is Corel. Amiga will be
  18. the common consumer application layer for 26 different versions of
  19. Linux.

  21. The new Amiga developer environment will run on top of a Red Hat
  22. Linux base and foundation. Amiga will be the common consumer
  23. interface for Corel Linux apps.

  25. Thus Amiga will provide Java and Linux with a common interface.
  26. Amiga will be extensibile running on cell phones to servers.

  28. 117 current Amiga titles are being ported to the Tao based New
  29. Amiga OS.

  31. Espial is providing an 800k java web browser for New Amiga.

  33. There will be a new version of Scala for the new OS. Animators from
  34. Disney provided the conceptual designs for the look of the new
  35. hardware reference designs. They are beautiful. They will be going
  36. up soon on the Amiga website. Disney used over 500 Amigas to
  37. produce computer animation for their films.

  39. Amiga is aligned with an array of consumer electronic firms
  40. including Sony, JVC, and others.

  42. There will be an upcoming announcement regarding Amiga
  43. participation in a global ISP alliance.
